The beginnings of a print-Electronica

This is a drawing onto a block of Lino of the Electronica scene. i plan to carve it next week.

Rap/Hip Hop-Sculpture

Rubbish from the recycling bin thrown together, symbolising how rap music can cause a person to take certain actions,or to feel a certain way. In this case, the mentality is one of fecklessness, a sort of "I don't give a fuck" mentality

Another interesting point about this sculpture is that Rap music exposes issues in modern day life. When i empty the recycling, my mother saw something which she was looking for,for a long time. The process exposed it.

Scenes which contain properties of genres of music-Electronica

I felt this scene contained some properties of electronica music for two reasons :

1.Repetition
2.definite rhythm(created by the infinite mirrors effect)

Rap music-Attitude,violence

I created an arm out of thrown away boxes, painted it and then wrote violent, insulting comments all over it in an effort to express the properties of rap music.

By Chance..

Although this composition was made by pure chance it actually turned out quite interesting. It is one of the photographs i took of the balance sculpture, but with the added pencil drawing effect,it makes it look like a scene that relates to the balance concept of the sculpture. In the background are my two canvas pieces. The one on the left(my clonal composition)makes it look like there are many people sitting in a church down below. Also i feel that the two canvas pieces balance the composition

Sculpture-The properties of Classical music=Balance+Harmony

These sculptures were made out of the materials i used up when making my figurative sculpture. Tin foil boxes, tin foil rolls, masking tape, sellotape, tissue rolls. These sculptures are an effort to display the balance and harmony present in classical music.

Good Advice

I have recieved some good advice from my tutor Sarah today. She felt that my figurative sculpture expressed my idea too literally and that i should try work with the same idea without using the human figure. So from now on i will be trying to express the properties of classical music by 3D means without the use of the human figure.

Sculpture-final product

The above photos are of the finished upper body figurative sculpture of a person performing the Yoga bridge pose
The idea of this sculpture is to relate movements to genres of music. The two figures counter balance one another in an harmonious fashion, and so i connect the nature of the piece to classical music.
In the two photos above i have taken a photo of my sculpture from opposite angles and i then super imposed them together(so as to make a digital replica of the sculpture), and also a super imposed harp to illustrate the sculpture's relation to classical music.

Sculpture continued-materials= Tin foil,toilet paper,sellotape,masking tape

The manakin has been wrapped in tin foil and tissue paper and then wrapped entirely by sellotape. I then cut directly down the middle of the structure as seen here.

I then stuffed the structure with crumbled bits of tin foil to act as a fill, and i then taped up the cut down the middle(as shown in the final image) so as to remake the form of the manakin.
